With shorter matches, nine-player sides, and wildcard plays, the Nines brought fans closer to the action—and each other. Women's national teams also took centre stage, making it a true celebration of the sport. The Nines returned briefly in 2020 before being shelved, leaving behind a legacy of excitement, innovation, and unforgettable footy moments.
